Proper Guide To Maintain Your Wigs

A Complete Step-by-Step Guide for sh0pping centre users

If you need to wash and maintain your wig, please follow this guide carefully to avoid any damage. Improper cleaning methods may cause irreversible harm to your wig.

💡 Wig Care Tips

If you wear your wig frequently, we recommend washing and conditioning it about once every 7 days.

  • Do not rub, twist, or wring the wig.

  • After washing, allow it to air dry in a well-ventilated place — never under direct sunlight.

🧼 Wig Washing Procedure

Please follow the steps below strictly for safe and effective wig maintenance.

1. Prepare Your Tools

You’ll need the following:

  • Neutral shampoo (no dandruff-control or oil-repair additives)

  • Hair conditioner

  • Wide-tooth comb or air-cushion brush

  • Rat-tail comb

  • Large basin (big enough to lay the wig flat)

  • Warm water (around 40°C / 104°F, preferably soft/filtered water)

  • Table salt (2g per 1000ml of water)

  • Two clean dry towels

  • Wig stand

2. Detangle the Wig

Before washing, always detangle your wig completely.

  • Lay the wig flat on a table.

  • Start brushing from the ends toward the roots using a wide-tooth comb.

  • Pay extra attention to areas prone to friction, like the back of the neck and the sides near the cheeks.

❗Important: Skipping this step may lead to knots during washing, which can damage the fibers permanently.

3. Wash the Wig

  • Fill your basin with 40°C (104°F) warm water.

  • Add 2g of salt per 1000ml to soften the water.

  • Add a suitable amount of neutral shampoo and mix until fully dissolved.

Now, turn the wig inside out:

  • For long wigs: Hold the fibers with one hand and the cap with the other. Gently place the cap into the water first, then slowly immerse the fibers.

  • For short wigs: Hold the wig cap and gently submerge the whole piece.

Let it soak for 5–10 minutes — do not rub, twist, or pull.
Use your fingertips to gently smooth the hair near the forehead and cheeks.

After soaking, lift the wig cap first and let the fibers come out of the water naturally.

🔄 Then rinse with clean warm water + salt only (no shampoo), just like the previous step.

4. Condition the Wig

Prepare another basin of warm water (40°C), add 2g salt per 1000ml, and mix in hair conditioner until fully dissolved.

  • If your wig is short and hand-tied:

    • First, use a towel to gently blot the wig until it no longer drips.

    • Then, cup the wig with one hand and use the other to lightly squeeze the water/conditioner mixture onto the strands.

  • If your wig is long and hand-tied:

    • Soak only the mid-lengths to ends in the water for 3–5 minutes.

    • Afterward, rinse briefly with clean water.

5. Dry & Style the Wig

  • Gently wrap the wig in a towel to remove excess water (no wringing).

  • Comb through the strands and style the bangs and part line if applicable.

  • Use your fingers to gently lift the roots — this will help avoid a flat crown after drying.

6. Let It Air Dry

Place the wig on a stand and allow it to air dry in a cool, ventilated area.
☁️ Avoid direct sunlight or blow-drying.
